On Saturday, The Red Sox released prospect Brett Netzer that he sent racist, homophobic, and anti-Semitic tweets, Chad Jennings, Red Sox writer for The Athletic, reported and confirmed by The Boston Globe‘s Alex Speier.

Brett Netzer targeted Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom in several of his tweets. His tweets attacked Black Americans, transgender people, and Chaim Bloom.

Netzer wrote “Chaim Bloom is a bad actor” in one of the tweets. Further, he added “dude went to Hebrew school and studied the Torah growing up but sold his soul to the sodom and race groups. good thing he is good at whatever he does in baseball.”

In another tweet, “Is Chaim Bloom even Jewish?? highly doubtful,” tweeted by Netzer. “I do sometimes make assumptions based on a person’s race/ethnicity/culture,” wrote in another tweet.

Netzer was selected by the Red Sox in the third round of the 2017 draft out of UNC Charlotte.
